Overview
The Air Conditioning Mechanic III position at the University of Texas at Arlington involves master journeyman level skills for servicing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment on campus. This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC systems, ensuring efficient operation and safety.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment on campus.
- Provide technical capability in troubleshooting energy management control systems.
- Use EMCS to diagnose building problems and adjust control strategies.
- Perform preventive maintenance including checking, calibrating, and replacing various components.
- Install and replace equipment and ductwork for remodels and projects.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair boiler systems, vacuum pumps, air compressors, and VFDs.
- Oversee AC Mechanic I’s and II’s for safety and training.
- Drive a UTA vehicle.
- Process work orders and EPA paperwork as required.
- Ensure proper Freon disposal and adherence to state codes.
- Recommend parts ordering and modifications to work order schedules.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational school certificate.
- Five years of journeyman or master level experience in HVAC repair and maintenance.
- Experience with energy management systems.
