Overview
VMSC Emergency Medical Services is a nonprofit organization focused on delivering mobile healthcare and innovative pre-hospital care in Pennsylvania. They are seeking a dependable and skilled Full-Time Fleet Mechanic responsible for maintaining fleet readiness through preventative maintenance and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on ambulances and support vehicles.
- Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
- Complete oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and fluid services.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Perform repairs on brakes, suspension, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and engine components.
- Document all maintenance and repairs accurately.
- Respond to disabled vehicles in the field when required.
- Perform minor roadside or on-site repairs to return units to service.
- Communicate repair status and escalation needs clearly.
- Assist in maintaining an organized and functional shop environment.
- Identify parts and supply needs and communicate shortages.
- Support uptime goals by prioritizing critical vehicle repairs.
- Work collaboratively with logistics and operations staff.
- Perform minor building repairs such as light bulbs, repairing doors, locks, shelves, or fixtures.
- Assist with seasonal facility maintenance, including snow removal and changing HVAC filters.
- Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in automotive or fleet maintenance, preferably with EMS or commercial vehicles.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driver's history.
- Experience working on ambulances, diesel platforms, or Ford Transit/Econoline is preferred.
- Familiarity with emergency vehicle systems such as lighting, sirens, and radios is preferred.
- Basic electrical diagnostic experience is preferred.
- EVT or ASE certification is preferred.
