Overview

VMSC Emergency Medical Services is a nonprofit organization focused on delivering mobile healthcare and innovative pre-hospital care in Pennsylvania. They are seeking a dependable and skilled Full-Time Fleet Mechanic responsible for maintaining fleet readiness through preventative maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on ambulances and support vehicles.
  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
  • Complete oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and fluid services.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Perform repairs on brakes, suspension, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and engine components.
  • Document all maintenance and repairs accurately.
  • Respond to disabled vehicles in the field when required.
  • Perform minor roadside or on-site repairs to return units to service.
  • Communicate repair status and escalation needs clearly.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and functional shop environment.
  • Identify parts and supply needs and communicate shortages.
  • Support uptime goals by prioritizing critical vehicle repairs.
  • Work collaboratively with logistics and operations staff.
  • Perform minor building repairs such as light bulbs, repairing doors, locks, shelves, or fixtures.
  • Assist with seasonal facility maintenance, including snow removal and changing HVAC filters.
  • Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in automotive or fleet maintenance, preferably with EMS or commercial vehicles.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driver's history.
  • Experience working on ambulances, diesel platforms, or Ford Transit/Econoline is preferred.
  • Familiarity with emergency vehicle systems such as lighting, sirens, and radios is preferred.
  • Basic electrical diagnostic experience is preferred.
  • EVT or ASE certification is preferred.
