Overview
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting railroad diagnostic and monitoring systems across North America. Wabtec is a leading global provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions, and value-added services for the freight and transit rail sectors.
Responsibilities
- Spot mechanical defects with attention to detail while in the field.
- Use Electronics Test Equipment such as Multimeter, RJ45 Cable Tester, and Oscilloscope.
- Utilize computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Create instructions documentation.
- Provide strong customer service skills while on the phone and onsite.
- Use common mechanical tools like wrenches, drills, and heavy-duty tools.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. in the field.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Install, configure, and maintain equipment onsite.
- Monitor sites and report mechanical failures of system components.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues for all Machine Vision equipment in the field.
- Keep records of service calls, installations, and maintenance service repairs.
- Diagnose and solve problems efficiently while providing on-site or remote support.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components.
- Train customers on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
- Perform Annual Maintenance Calibration for KinetiX Machine Vision Systems.
- Follow railroad industry regulations and safety protocols while working onsite.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Travel for a minimum of 65% of the time, both internationally and domestically.
Requirements
- High School Diploma in Electrical and Mechanical with 2-3 years of relevant field experience, or an Associate/Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Mechanical with 3-7 years of relevant field experience.
