Overview
The Apprentice Switchboard Wireman position involves performing wiring services under supervision in control circuits and panels at Transmission Substations across Georgia. The role is part of a traveling department and includes training opportunities to advance to a Switchboard Wireman position.
Responsibilities
- Perform wiring services under direct supervision in control circuits, control panels, and equipment.
- Pull cables and terminate both AC and DC control circuits.
- Build control panels and work toward proficiency in function-testing of control panels.
- De-energize control panels in various AC and DC control circuits.
- Travel statewide for work in both new and existing transmission substations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- More than 2 years’ experience in AC or DC Controls is preferred.
- Knowledge of AC or DC control circuits including installation work.
- Good communication skills and proven team player.
- Ability to work at heights of 20 feet and off a 6’ step ladder.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Pass a pre-employment CAST test and background check.

- This position works four ten-hour days and requires overnight and out-of-town stays.
- Travel expenses, hotel expenses, and meals are the responsibility of the Apprentice Switchboard Wireman, with a per diem provided.
- The position is subject to call-out overtime work and storm restoration response.
