Overview
The Construction Inspector II is responsible for performing daily inspections of construction projects to ensure quality and adherence to building codes, specifications, and industry standards. This role involves inspecting materials and components, conducting tests, preparing reports, and collaborating with project teams while maintaining strict safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection according to specified procedures.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Perform basic analysis of data for accuracy before communication.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel.
- Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors and/or Project Managers.
- Assist senior inspectors on projects as needed.
- Coordinate pre-dispatch activities with Project, Department, and/or Office Managers.
- Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F-150 or equivalent.
- Follow safety rules and practices, performing pre-task planning.
- Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
- Minimum 2-4 years’ experience as an NDT Inspector or other applicable experience.
- 2-4 years' experience in construction inspection preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI-D1.1).
- ICC certification (Structural Steel - Bolting) or ability to obtain within 4 to 8 weeks.
