Overview

MISTRAS Group Inc. is seeking an API Inspector for full-time work near Chicago, IL, responsible for performing inspections on pressure vessels, piping, and above ground storage tank equipment to ensure compliance with API standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections on piping, pressure vessels, and storage tanks at scheduled intervals.
• Conduct visual inspections of completed work and recommend and approve repairs.
• Assist in scheduling activities related to inspection.
• Use proper safety procedures and equipment.
• Complete customer and company job-related forms and paperwork.
• Abide by company policies and procedures.
• Complete all required training within company guidelines.
• Perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
• Prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.
• Deliver reports to clients.
• Work outdoors in a plant atmosphere.
• Work in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
• Wear required safety equipment.

Requirements

• Possess the appropriate API certification(s).
• 2+ years of hands-on API experience.
• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; technical school or college credits preferred.
• Must be proficient with MS Word and Excel and able to write detailed inspection reports.
• Must have the ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
• Capable of climbing, working at high elevations, and working in confined spaces.
• Must be able to walk and climb to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment.
• Must have sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to communicate effectively.
• Must have sufficient vision to conduct investigations.
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine office duties.

Additional Information

• Pay Rate: $50-60/hour depending on experience and certifications.
• The job requires working outdoors in a plant atmosphere.
