Overview
The Plumber position at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center involves performing routine maintenance on plumbing equipment, installing and repairing plumbing fixtures, and ensuring the functionality of various systems within the hospital. This full-time role requires availability for various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on all plumbing equipment in the Hospital complex.
- Fit valves, couplings, and other specified parts and fittings to pipe sections.
- Attach pipe assemblies to walls or ceilings with brackets or hangers.
- Install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and medical gas equipment.
- Connect plumbing fixtures to outlet and inlet pipes.
- Repair plumbing fixtures, including worn washers and valves.
- Solder and caulk leaks and broken pipes.
- Construct minor metal work such as strainers and shelves.
- Silver-solder and maintain all kitchen equipment.
- Perform Tinsmith work as necessary.
- Maintain Mechanical Rooms.
- Cooperate with team members to resolve maintenance problems efficiently.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED.
- Three to five years of experience in plumbing.
- Experienced in plumbing trade and basic working knowledge of all other trades.
- Must be available for weekends, evenings, nights, holidays, emergencies, and scheduled work/outages.
- Must adhere to and follow shift coverage procedures.
