Overview

As a Welder at Fincantieri Marinette Marine, you will be responsible for welding metal parts together and ensuring they meet specifications. This role offers the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility focused on maritime engineering.

Responsibilities

• Weld or tack weld metal parts together using various welding equipment.
• Connect hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and turn valves to release mixture.
• Ignite torch and regulate flow of gas and air to obtain desired flame characteristics.
• Preheat work pieces using a torch before welding or bending.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure them for conformance with specifications.
• Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to assemble structures.
• Signal crane operator to move large work pieces.
• Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal using thermal-cutting equipment.
• Position and secure parts using hoist, crane, or hand tools.
• Select and secure torch and cutting tips according to metal type and thickness.
• Guide and direct flame or electrodes to manipulate metal.
• Fuse parts together and seal tension points.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
• Skill in using a tape measure, pressure gauge, level, and square.
