Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer to perform complex structural engineering tasks for projects within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit, specifically for an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX. The company has a long history of delivering successful projects globally, focusing on infrastructure and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the design, development and modification of structural components and processes.
  • Designs structures using knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering.
  • Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
  • Originates and checks structural engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements and sketches possible solutions.
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials and techniques.
  • Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
  • Completes Civil/Structural documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Considered skilled and proficient in discipline.
  • Professional with an understanding of area of specialization and resolves a wide range of issues.
