Overview
The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer will work on GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions team, supporting large and complex projects like HVDC and high voltage substations. The engineer is accountable for the civil and construction scope, schedule, and budget throughout project execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead the entire civil scope of projects from concept to closeout.
- Prepare project scope, identify risks and opportunities, and set design schedules.
- Estimate design and construction budgets and manage civil design and construction subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Costs according to contractual obligations.
- Support the Application Engineer & Tendering team with conceptual designs and tender documents.
- Assist in defining contracting strategies and developing technical scopes of work.
- Establish accurate cost estimates for construction scope.
- Manage civil construction scope and coordination with subcontractors.
- Track and document changes to the civil scope, schedule, and budgets.
- Ensure timely definition and issuance of sub-contracts.
- Manage risks and opportunities related to civil design and construction activities.
- Lead the Structural design team to provide necessary data for site works.
- Mentor and train team members to ensure competency.
- Demonstrate EHS leadership and promote hazard identification.
- Comply with Quality Procedures and report non-conformances.
- Support site procedures and engineering field support.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) in the United States.
- At least 10 years of experience in engineering, procuring, and constructing large capital HVDC projects.
- Structural design experience with industrial multi-story steel buildings.
- Strong understanding of civil design codes.
- Proficiency with engineering design and analysis software.
- Project Management Certification (PMP) is preferred.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
