Overview
The Senior Structural Designer 1 - Nuclear position at Sargent & Lundy offers the opportunity to work with multi-disciplined engineering teams in developing structural physical layout drawings in a 3-D model, focusing on the design of structural supports and foundations while solving various structural design issues.
Responsibilities
- Develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3-D model.
- Design structural supports and foundations.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve structural design issues.
- Utilize 3D modeling software tools to generate structural design schematics.
- Act as the structural design team lead in coordinating detailed design phases.
- Coordinate and provide guidance to other designers and project team members.
- Independently plan and execute structural design deliverables.
- Assist senior designers and engineers in field walkdowns and data gathering.
- Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.
Requirements
- An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma with 1 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
- 10 or more years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design drawings.
- Proficiency with design software tools for 3D plant layout models.
- Experience reviewing structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
- Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.
