Overview
MGC Contractors, Inc. is a 100% Employee Owned Corporation specializing in water and wastewater general contracting across Arizona, Texas, Utah, and New Mexico. They are seeking Pipe Layers to join their Arizona Division in the Phoenix metro area.
Responsibilities
- Install mechanical joint water line and bolt together water line.
- Install air release valves and inline valves.
- Grade for flow of sewer line pipe.
- Lay ductile water line and PVC sewer pipe.
- Set line and grade for water line/sewer.
- Line prep grade for water lines/sewer lines.
- Install water line with gaskets and mechanical joints.
- Backfill waterline/sewer line to ensure positive flow.
- Plan pipe installation or repair according to specifications.
- Align and position pipes for welding or sealing.
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements and specifications.
- Calculate and adjust grade using a level and a laser.
- Select type and size of pipe and related material according to job specifications.
- Measure and mark pipes to required length for cutting and threading.
- Cut, thread, hammer, and weld pipe to specifications.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints.
- Locate existing pipes needing repair or replacement through potholing and/or excavation.
- Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary line or devices.
- Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
- Grout and clear manholes.
- Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using various testing methods.
- Perform any and all other duties assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two to three years of related experience laying underground water lines, sanitary or storm sewers required.
- Three plus years of related experience preferred.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time position.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Position operates at professional construction sites.
