Overview

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is seeking a Draftsperson II (6523) Structural to prepare technical drawings and assist in design under the supervision of engineering and architectural personnel. This role involves using Autodesk Revit and other office programs to ensure compliance with codes and standards while contributing to the innovative transit services in the Philadelphia region.

Responsibilities

• Prepares technical drawings for new installations or modifications.
• Prepares design detailing of technical assemblies.
• Assists with the preparation of design layouts for technical systems.
• Verifies existing field conditions and dimensions.
• Prepares basic calculations, cost estimates, and material lists.
• Reviews drawings for compliance with codes and standards.
• Assists in preparation of basic technical specifications.
• Coordinates work with other drafters and engineers/architects.
• Maintains legibility and accuracy in compliance with departmental standards.
• Estimates and communicates time required for drawing preparation.
• Archives and digitizes existing documents and drawings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited drafting or technical school with certification in Drafting or AutoCAD.
• Three years of pertinent structural drafting experience.
• Familiarity with industrial standards, City, State, and Federal codes is preferred.
• Must maintain familiarity with changes in codes and standards.
• Must attain annual Track and safety certifications.
• Must pass Structural Draftsperson test.
