Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair duties related to architectural, mechanical, and electrical components of buildings. This position requires journeyman level experience in masonry and electrical work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of architectural, mechanical, and electrical components of buildings.
  • Install, modify, and repair furniture items, doors, windows, floor coverings, baseboards, and signage.
  • Install, modify, and repair plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Conduct inspections and perform routine maintenance on assigned areas.
  • Construct and frame metal stud drywall partitions and perform drywalling, mudding, taping, and plastering.
  • Patch and paint various surfaces.
  • Perform snow removal using vehicles for snow plowing, snow blowers, and shoveling.
  • Keep storage areas clean, orderly, and organized to maintain an accurate inventory of supplies, tools, and materials.
  • Plan and measure various materials according to requirements and dimensions outlined in instructions.
  • Read and interpret work orders, instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes.
  • Use and maintain equipment and tools common to various trades.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on shop tools and equipment to ensure safe and proper function.
  • Work with wood or wood substitute materials, gypsum board or fiber-cement board, concrete/rebar, glass, etc.
  • Install laminate and protective coverings on various surfaces.
  • Lay concrete block brick and perform minor masonry repairs.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Journeyman level experience in masonry and electrical work is required.
  • Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Experience with equipment assembly, installation, and repair.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment without more than normal supervision.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving considerable movement, bending, lifting, and working from ladders.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00pm-5:30am and 10:30am-9:00pm.
  • Physical requirements include lifting objects weighing up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally lifting equipment or materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Duties may be performed in all types of weather and may expose the worker to various hazards.
