Overview

This entry-level position at Sargent & Lundy offers the opportunity to apply and expand academic knowledge in structural engineering while working on various projects related to nuclear facilities. The role involves collaboration with engineers and designers, focusing on structural analysis and design.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design calculations and develop specifications.
  • Support designers with drawing development.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations.
  • Conduct structural analyses considering loading conditions such as wind and seismic.
  • Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering.
  • Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
  • Knowledge of practical application of structural engineering including loads analysis.
  • Understanding of structural design techniques, tools, and principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Additional Information

  • This position is based on a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office work 3 days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, GA.
