Overview
We are looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations within a structural steel fabrication shop. This hands-on leadership role focuses on coordinating production activities, supporting shop employees, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily fabrication activities to support production goals and delivery deadlines.
- Lead and support welders, fitters, and other shop personnel.
- Assign work based on production priorities, available staffing, and equipment capacity.
- Monitor workflow and adjust schedules to maintain efficiency.
- Communicate production updates, priorities, and scheduling concerns with the team.
- Provide guidance on welding, fit-up, layout, and blueprint interpretation.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement solutions to reduce downtime.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to keep fabrication equipment operating efficiently.
- Help maintain production records and fabrication documentation.
- Support dimensional inspections and verify work meets project specifications in coordination with Quality Control.
- Promote compliance with workplace safety procedures, quality requirements, and shop policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Assist with onboarding new employees, training, and ongoing skills development.
- Perform additional leadership responsibilities as needed to support shop operations.
Requirements
- Three or more years of experience leading or supervising employees in a structural steel fabrication environment.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, fit-up, and layout practices.
- Experience working with or operating CNC fabrication equipment and other manufacturing machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and production documentation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, quality control procedures, and production scheduling.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or adjusted schedules when production demands require.
