Overview

The Structural and Pipe Fitter / Welder fits and assembles structures from materials such as angle iron, I-beams, and steel plate using hand tools and welding equipment while following blueprint specifications.

Responsibilities

• Examine blueprints and materials list to obtain parts specifications.
• Lay out parts dimensions on worktable using square, chalk line, and soapstone.
• Tack-weld scrap metal to outline to provide jig for assembly.
• Position parts in jig and file, chisel, and grind parts as indicated to fit.
