Overview

The Pipefitter at the Robley Rex VA is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining various plumbing and piping systems in a medical facility and industrial laundry. This role requires both independent work and collaboration with a team of specialists.

Responsibilities

• Layout, install, test, adjust, and maintain several types of piping systems and allied equipment.
• Perform new installations of plumbing and steam equipment from laying-out to finishing work.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of piping systems and allied equipment.
• Install and maintain pipe insulation of various materials.
• Install, repair, and maintain complex hospital equipment.
• Fit, install, and maintain hospital plumbing and laboratory equipment.
• Provide support for automatic fixtures including routine flushing and battery replacement.
• Install, test, and repair life support and life safety systems.
• Maintain shop inventory of bench stock and order materials for jobs.
• Install firestop when necessary in accordance with prescribed UL methods.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 0600-1630
• Physical Requirements: Daily handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds and occasionally carries heavier objects.
