Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that impacts millions globally through technology aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and infrastructure. They are seeking a Back Welder for their weekend shift to contribute to their mission of moving the world forward.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize all safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective safety equipment.
  • Maintain and operate production tooling and fixtures as well as all welding equipment safely.
  • Produce high quality welds using GMAW and SAW in the fabrication of utility structures.
  • Plan welding operations from blueprints or specifications and determine operation sequence.
  • Perform longitudinal welding of shaft seams for full penetration welds.
  • Adjust welding equipment to prescribed settings.
  • Read and complete labor reporting system, standard shop forms, and blueprints.
  • Other duties as required and/or assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be passionate and have integrity with a drive to excel.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and productive working environment.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow safety regulations.
  • Ability to meet or exceed production goals without sacrificing safety or quality.
  • Ability to read weld symbols, understand blueprints, and perform basic mathematics.
  • Must pass and obtain Submerged Arc Welding certification in 1G and 2F positions.
  • Must pass and obtain Gas Metal Arc Welding certification in 2G and 2F positions.
  • Welds must pass UT, requiring a high skill level.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook.
  • Acceptable attendance and prior employment record.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, prior experience preferred.
  • Must accurately read a tape measure.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Communicate and interact positively with coworkers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions.
  • Three to five years of hands-on GMAW and SAW multi-pass welding experience.

Additional Information

  • Shift hours are from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • 36 hours worked but paid for 40 hours.
  • Training hours are from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Thursday.
