Overview

Valmont is seeking a motivated Welder for their Columbus facility to join a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and infrastructure. The role involves welding metal components to fabricate or repair products, ensuring quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Work from blueprints and layouts to fit structural parts together in preparation for welding.
• Lay out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cut metal with a cutting torch.
• Weld metal structural components together in the fabrication of steel electrical poles and substations.
• Adjust welding equipment to its prescribed settings.
• Move pole shafts using an overhead crane and gather parts and materials to complete projects.
• Utilize all safety devices and wear mandatory personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management.
• Actively participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices.

Requirements

• Must have welding experience, preferably MIG welding.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Must excel in a team environment.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate and interact positively with coworkers.
• Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
• Must maintain an acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent or graduation from an accredited trade school for welding.
• One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Six months of previous experience welding in a professional environment.
• High awareness for safety at all times.
• Ability to identify and communicate maintenance or production problems.

Additional Information

• Training will be Monday through Thursday from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm.
• Position works 12 hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
• There will be a 4 hour attendance pay for completion of 36 hours.
