Overview

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding metal components into finished products according to blueprints and engineering specifications. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and quality in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form units or subassemblies using blueprints, jigs, and hand tools.
  • Study engineering drawings and layouts to determine material requirements and sequence of work.
  • Move, lift, and position materials using cranes, hoists, or manual handling methods.
  • Lay out, mark, and verify workpieces using measuring tools such as squares, rulers, and tape measures.
  • Tack-weld, cut, grind, and prepare metal components to meet specification requirements.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including brakes, shears, rollers, drill presses, grinders, and cutting torches.
  • Straighten, shape, and adjust metal parts using hammers, presses, torches, and other hand tools.
  • Set up and use jigs, fixtures, face blocks, and templates for accurate assembly and fabrication.
  • Remove defects such as high spots and bevel edges using grinding, filing, and cutting tools.
  • Ensure all finished work meets quality and dimensional standards through inspection and adjustment.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years welding/fabrication experience required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to use measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, depth gauges, and fixed gauges.

Additional Information

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours.
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently.
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather.
