Overview
Cowles Operating Company, a leading manufacturer in the heating industry, is seeking a Welder to join their team in North Haven. The role involves welding metal components using MIG and TIG equipment to fabricate or repair products made from sheet metal.
Responsibilities
- Performs welding operations on a wide range of metals and thicknesses.
- Involves precision assemblies requiring considerable welding to high strength.
- Regulates current and voltage for proper penetration and fusion of metals, selecting electrode type and size.
- Requires skill to fuse dissimilar metals, obtain maximum weld strength, and avoid distortion.
- Skilled with MIG and TIG welding equipment.
- Plans work from drawings or other specifications.
- Reports materials, equipment, or process problems to supervisor.
- Performs various operations within the department to maintain workflow.
- Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other similar or related duties as required or directed.
Requirements
- Technical school education or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in English; Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
