Overview

Cowles Operating Company, a leading manufacturer in the heating industry, is seeking a Welder to join their team in North Haven. The role involves welding metal components using MIG and TIG equipment to fabricate or repair products made from sheet metal.

Responsibilities

• Performs welding operations on a wide range of metals and thicknesses.
• Involves precision assemblies requiring considerable welding to high strength.
• Regulates current and voltage for proper penetration and fusion of metals, selecting electrode type and size.
• Requires skill to fuse dissimilar metals, obtain maximum weld strength, and avoid distortion.
• Skilled with MIG and TIG welding equipment.
• Plans work from drawings or other specifications.
• Reports materials, equipment, or process problems to supervisor.
• Performs various operations within the department to maintain workflow.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations.
• Performs other similar or related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

• Technical school education or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication skills, particularly in English; Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
