Overview
The Welder at Illinois Marine Towing is responsible for performing all aspects of welding on inland marine vessels and equipment, focusing on maintenance, fabrication, and structural repairs. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety, quality, and operational readiness of marine operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of welding work including prepare/check equipment.
- Weld steel barges and ships.
- Stick weld using 6010, 7018, and 7024.
- Use flux core welding in all positions with 0.52 wire.
- Safely operate heavy equipment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Stay compliant with all regulatory bodies and safety rules.
- Travel to multiple locations as required.
- Perform other duties as required and directed by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Hold a valid Driver's License.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in stick welding.
- ABS certification is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding and application of workplace safety practices.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
