Job Description

Overview

BP is seeking a Welder (O&M W) to join its Construction Maintenance Team based in Manhattan, Illinois. This field-based role supports the maintenance, construction, repair, and integrity of BP's pipeline infrastructure across the Pipelines & Logistics business.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all health, safety, security, environmental (HSSE) and operational and maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Achieve long-term and day-to-day goals and tasks.
  • Manage time and resources effectively and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Work independently without supervision.
  • Problem solve and make good decisions.
  • Work effectively on diverse teams.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels both internally and externally.
  • Transfer work-related knowledge to others.
  • Read maps, alignment sheets, and construction drawings.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
  • Have knowledge of different pipe schedules and pressure ratings.
  • Perform all phases of pipeline, tank, and manifold welding.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and make minor repairs.
  • Perform inline inspections, pig tracking, and hydrostatic testing.
  • Work with contract supply companies and pipeline support contractors.
  • Complete Inspection & Repair reports and other required documentation.
  • Travel to other locations within the district as needed.
  • Use Maximo, VTA, MS Office, and other applications as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) required.
  • Associates or Technical degree considered a plus.
  • Pipe fabrication skills considered a plus.
  • Outstanding safe work practices, including safe driving.
  • Pipeline experience or advanced education in technical crafts.
  • Working knowledge of computers including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Commitment to learning new skills and completing required training.
  • Meet all DOT requirements, including Operator Qualifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a DOT truck or similar.
