Overview

The Trades Specialist (Bridge) position involves skilled activities related to the repair and maintenance of bridges, including carpentry, welding, masonry, ironworking, steel fabricating, and painting. The role also includes supervising bridge repair sub-crews and requires specific certifications for winter operations and welding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled activities associated with the repair and maintenance of bridges.
  • Act as a working supervisor over bridge repair sub-crews on small projects.
  • Repair bridge railings, deck holes, and paint bridges.
  • Assist with Snow & Ice operations during the winter season.
  • Serve a role within the Incident Command System for emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time experience in a trade related to bridge repair, maintenance, and construction.
  • Possess a valid New York State driver's license when required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Be OPP certified for Snow & Ice Operations during the winter season.
  • Hold a NYSDOT Certified Welder certification in shielded metal arc welding, vertical position, and unlimited thickness.
