Overview

Veolia in North America is a leading environmental company that specializes in water, waste, and energy management services. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment, requiring expertise in multiple trades.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain pumps, valves, motors and other process equipment.
• Set up and proficiently operate machine tools to design, make and repair mechanisms and equipment.
• Fabricate parts and/or install, adjust, dismantle and reassemble machines and plant equipment.
• Operate various tools including lathes, grinders, milling machines, and hand tools.
• Perform welding functions on buildings and equipment in the treatment plant.
• Study specifications such as blueprints and electrical schematics to plan operations.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of plant equipment.
• Recommend replacement parts needed.
• Maintain computerized work orders and records.
• Provide assistance and direction to less experienced mechanics.
• Responsible for general housekeeping of maintenance shop and work areas.
• Observe all on-the-job safety regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• A minimum of three years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, plumber, electrician, or HVAC technician.
• Two years of related education at a college, trade school or equivalent may be substituted for experience.
• Knowledge of treatment plant machine equipment operations and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to safely operate electrical test equipment and various hand or power tools.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures for confined space entry and LOTO.
• Ability to understand the functions of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Ability to cut with a cutting torch and an arc rod and to solder and weld.
• Completion of recognized Apprenticeship program.
