Overview
Rhoads Industries, a family-owned company since 1896, is a total solution provider of industrial fabrication, mechanical/maintenance, and maritime services. They are seeking Structural Welders to join their growing team, committed to delivering exceptional products and services across various markets.
Responsibilities
- Read and understand work packages, drawings, and blueprints.
- Layout, position, align and secure parts & assemblies according to specifications.
- Perform welding using the GMAW welding processes.
- Work within assigned group to move and position work pieces using overhead cranes.
- Operate hand and power tools such as magnetic drills, grinders, and cutting torches.
- Inspect own work to ensure it meets product specifications and is compliant before presented to QA.
- Inspect equipment to maintain functionality and report any malfunctions.
- Set-up and operate machinery to support fabrication such as punching, shearing, and cutting.
- Assist in the fabrication of multi-component fabrications.
- Be dispatched to other buildings within the Navy yard and possible other job sites.
- Work various shifts, including overtime and weekends.
Requirements
- High school graduate with related trade school experience required.
- 5+ years of experience in the fabrication industry.
- Experience in GMAW (Pulse and Spray) and FCAW welding processes; GTAW is a plus.
- Must qualify to Plate in the 3-G and 4-G position per AWS D1.1 using the GMAW process.
- Proven past welding certification history is a plus.
- US Citizenship required.
- Understand welding symbols and decipher work packages, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Ability to cut material using cutting torch, plasma torch, and shears.
- Safety focused and able to work in a team environment.
- OSHA 10 safety training required, with up-to-date OSHA 10 being a plus.
- Experience in MIL work per TP1688 and past qualifications to TP248 in GMAW Pulse and Spray is a plus.
