The Fleet Mechanic 2 role involves maintaining and repairing the company's fleet equipment, including diesel and gasoline trucks, trailers, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on all types of fleet equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic malfunctions, perform repairs, and rebuild/replace major equipment components.
  • Perform emergency roadside services as needed.
  • Research and order parts, accurately record usage, and assist in managing stock inventory.
  • Complete electronic work orders and ensure all information is recorded in the computerized maintenance system.
  • Assist team members with troubleshooting and repairs, researching parts, and inspecting equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets.
  • Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology.
  • Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on light duty, heavy duty and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and others such as bench grinders, torch, drill press, jacks and jack stands, Sawzall, etc.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to ensure efficient use of time.
  • Ability to work in a positive and productive team environment.
  • Ability to show initiative, problem solving, technical skills, and demonstrate teamwork.
