Overview

MAU is hiring a TIG Welder for a client in Columbia, SC. The role involves fabricating and welding piping assemblies and structural steel while ensuring compliance with ASME pressure vessel and piping code requirements. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Weld pipe diameters ranging from 1/2" to 36" in all positions.
  • Operate a high-frequency amperage control foot pedal during welding operations.
  • Weld structural steel in all positions.
  • Select the appropriate filler wire based on the base metal being welded.
  • Ensure all welds meet ASME pressure vessel and piping code requirements.
  • Prepare pipe fittings and pipe ends for full-penetration welds on pipe assemblies.
  • Perform GTA welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex stainless steel.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols for piping assemblies and skids.
  • Calculate pipe fitting take-outs and piping measurements.

Requirements

  • Ability to weld pipe diameters ranging from 1/2" to 36" in all positions.
  • Ability to pass a welding test in the fixed 6G position.
  • Ability to operate a high-frequency amperage control foot pedal while welding.
  • Ability to weld structural steel in all positions.
  • Ability to identify the correct filler wire for a given base metal.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and welding symbols used in fabrication.
  • Ability to calculate pipe fitting take-outs and piping measurements.
