Overview
MAU is hiring a TIG Welder for a client in Columbia, SC. The role involves fabricating and welding piping assemblies and structural steel while ensuring compliance with ASME pressure vessel and piping code requirements. This is a direct-hire opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Weld pipe diameters ranging from 1/2" to 36" in all positions.
- Operate a high-frequency amperage control foot pedal during welding operations.
- Weld structural steel in all positions.
- Select the appropriate filler wire based on the base metal being welded.
- Ensure all welds meet ASME pressure vessel and piping code requirements.
- Prepare pipe fittings and pipe ends for full-penetration welds on pipe assemblies.
- Perform GTA welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and duplex stainless steel.
- Interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols for piping assemblies and skids.
- Calculate pipe fitting take-outs and piping measurements.
Requirements
- Ability to weld pipe diameters ranging from 1/2" to 36" in all positions.
- Ability to pass a welding test in the fixed 6G position.
- Ability to operate a high-frequency amperage control foot pedal while welding.
- Ability to weld structural steel in all positions.
- Ability to identify the correct filler wire for a given base metal.
- Ability to interpret drawings and welding symbols used in fabrication.
- Ability to calculate pipe fitting take-outs and piping measurements.
