Overview
The Cook County Department of Facilities Management is seeking a Steamfitter to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain various piping systems under the general direction of the Steamfitter Foreman. This position involves working with steam, hot water, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, hydraulic, and steam pipeline systems.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems and fixtures.
- Maintain steam heating plants, steam power lines, pumps, and oil lines.
- Inspect work sites for obstructions and structural weaknesses.
- Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and other construction activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an approved Steamfitter Journeyman Apprenticeship Program or five years of full-time work experience as a Steamfitter.
- Valid certification in Pipe Welding recognized by the American Welding Society.
- Valid Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.

Additional Information
- This position requires moderate to extensive travel throughout Cook County.
- Candidates must pass a drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.
- Very Heavy work involves exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
