Overview
Hydro Inc. is a global industrial pump re-engineering company headquartered in Chicago, seeking an enthusiastic Pump Mechanic for their Aftermarket Pump Repair Shop. The company has been providing engineering expertise and pump repair services since 1969, focusing on optimizing the performance and reliability of pumping systems.
Responsibilities
- Dismantle, rebuild, and reassemble customers' machinery.
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and rebuild pumps, compressors, and small turbines.
- Assess problems and make repairs in the field.
- Operate various tools and equipment including sandblasters, cranes, forklifts, and impact tools.
- Perform maintenance welding.
- Act as a lead person in supervisors’ absence.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees.
Requirements
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in pump repair and maintenance.
- Experience with power and hand tools, as well as diagnostic equipment.
- Proficient in acetylene and electric arc welding.
- 5 years of pump mechanic experience with knowledge of shop repair, assembly, and disassembly of pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
- Millwright mechanic or formal training from an accredited technical college or trade school or equivalent multiyear apprenticeship program.
- Knowledge of working with electric motors.
- Journeyman or US Military experience desired.
- High School diploma.
- 2 years’ experience in machining and tooling in a machine shop environment desired.
