Overview

NYC Health + Hospitals is the largest public health care system in the United States, providing essential services to over one million New Yorkers annually. The Steam Fitter's Helper position involves assisting in the installation and maintenance of piping and equipment for various heating and processing systems under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of piping and equipment in air, steam and hot water heating, air conditioning and processing systems.
• Assist in the installation of boilers, feedwater, vacuum and condensate equipment.
• Assist in the installation of fuel oil piping and related equipment.
• Assist in taking on-the-job measurements and lays out work from plans, specifications and/or sketches.

Requirements

• Three years of full-time, satisfactory mechanical experience as Steam Fitter's Helper acquired within the last ten years.
• At least one-and-one-half years of experience as described, plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade, Vocational or Technical High School to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.
• Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade, Vocational or Technical High School.
