Overview
A Pipelayer position is available at Garney. The role involves assembling, installing, and repairing underground pipes and fittings, requiring previous experience in pipe laying.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the area for pipe laying by directing trenching and grading.
- Perform functions of a Laborer as required.
- Assist equipment Operators in the placement of pipe.
- Direct equipment Operators with hand signals.
- Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
- Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
- Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in an underground trench.
- Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipes composed of metal, PVC, ductile, and concrete.
- Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement.
- Test pipes for leakage, measure, and cut pipe.
- Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies.
Requirements
- Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, and storm drain.
- Must be willing to complete trainings and certifications provided by Garney, such as Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour.
