Overview
The Mechanic A (HVAC) position at Mount Sinai Hospital involves installing and maintaining HVAC equipment under supervision, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and trade practices. The role requires monitoring system performance, performing preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues while adhering to hospital policies.
Responsibilities
- Monitor HVAC system performance via computer (BMS) system and make adjustments as required.
- Inspect refrigeration equipment and packaged air conditioning systems, making adjustments as needed.
- Evaluate operational and controls issues for all equipment and take proactive steps to maintain desired parameters.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as required, working independently or with others.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) as assigned, including control system calibrations.
- Conduct safety and environmental inspections as assigned.
- Respond promptly to all requests from the Supervisor or Work Control using a walkie-talkie or cell phone.
- Document work in detail as specified by management to maintain accurate maintenance and repair history.
- Make decisions based on clear instructions and escalate problems to management as appropriate.
- Ensure proper care and use of spare parts, tools, and test equipment.
- Maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of equipment.
- Meet Health and Human Services and Environment Health and Safety requirements.
- Lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and carry and climb a 6-foot ladder.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Associates degree in electronic technology or mechanical principles highly desirable.
- 1 year basic or mechanical repair experience.
