The Facilities Mechanic position in Yonkers, NY involves routine maintenance and ensuring safety regulations are met at the largest nonprofit educational and consumer product testing center in the world.

Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance tasks
• Repairing equipment, machinery, and buildings
• Responding to 'on demand' and timely staff requests, event set-ups, and emergency calls
• Complying with safety regulations and assisting with facility inspections
• Handling inventory management
• Overseeing the emergency evacuations of staff during fire or safety events
• Repairing and installing furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Upkeep of grounds and equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance or a similar role
• Knowledge of buildings, machinery, and equipment
• Basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical skills
• Self-motivated and a problem solver
• Value teamwork and collaboration
