Overview

One of my clients is seeking an experienced Lead Fabricator / Shop Foreman to oversee daily shop operations while remaining hands-on in the fabrication of commercial glazing systems. This individual will be responsible for leading the fabrication team, organizing workflow, managing incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining an efficient and safe shop environment, and ensuring projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily fabrication shop operations.
  • Fabricate commercial storefront, curtain wall, entrances, windows, and architectural glazing systems.
  • Organize daily production schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate fabrication priorities with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Manage inventory, receiving, and staging of materials.
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and prepared for delivery.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment.
  • Perform quality control inspections throughout fabrication.
  • Train and mentor fabricators and shop personnel.
  • Monitor equipment and arrange maintenance when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and company standards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries when necessary.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial glass and glazing fabrication experience.
  • Previous experience leading a fabrication shop or supervising crews preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of storefront, curtain wall, doors, glass, aluminum framing, and architectural metal systems.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and construction plans.
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment and machinery.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
