Ricardo is a world leader in propulsion engineering, specializing in complex propulsion, driveline, and energy systems. The Senior Automotive Shop Technician role focuses on aluminum welding and fabrication, requiring advanced experience in building automotive assemblies and prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Building complex automotive assemblies, prototypes, or custom chassis elements.

Requirements

• 5 to 10+ years of advanced experience in building complex automotive assemblies.
• Mastery of Automotive Aluminium Welding including advanced TIG/MIG expertise.
• Critical Heat Management skills to prevent distortion and structural degradation.
• Active AWS D1.2 or AWS D17.1 certifications.
• Experience in engineering and building custom shop fixtures and hold-down jigs.
• Expert-level operation of programmable press brakes, automated shears, tube benders, and CNC plasma/waterjet tables.
• Mastery of complex automotive blueprints with tight GD&T tolerances.
• Expert use of surface plates, height gauges, digital calipers, and micrometers.
• Experience conducting and documenting detailed layout dimensional inspections.
• Mentorship experience in training and supervising junior welders.
• Ability to identify production bottlenecks and suggest design-for-manufacturability revisions.
• Experience in standardizing non-destructive testing procedures.
