Job Description

Overview

The Welder will perform torch and plasma cutting operations, along with fitting, tacking, and MIG welding carbon steel on various parts. The role requires qualifications for 2G and 2F welding and the ability to utilize shop equipment for various tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Work from weld data sheets, procedures, operation travelers, prints, and oral instructions.
  • Use turntable or lathe for circular parts or weld bench to set up fixtures.
  • Visually check parts in preparation for welding and clean the weld area.
  • Check dimensions to ensure parts are within print specifications.
  • Prepare parts for welding using measuring tools and following weld parameters.
  • Use temp sticks to ensure specified heat and produce welds with proper penetration.
  • Deburr and grind off slag and excessive weld as necessary.
  • Repair defective welded parts using various tools and re-weld according to specifications.
  • Perform torch and plasma cutting on carbon steel.
  • Use measuring devices to ensure work meets print specifications.
  • Use crane, dollies, and carts to move materials and completed jobs.
  • Store tooling and fixtures in an organized manner with proper labels.
  • Maintain work area, machines, tools, and equipment to meet program requirements.
  • Perform all job functions in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Identify and assist in remediation of safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Team Leader/Supervisor.
