Job Description

Overview

The City of Casper is seeking an experienced Baler Systems Mechanic to maintain and repair baler machinery at the Solid Waste Facility, which plays a crucial role in processing recyclable materials for the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance and mechanical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and gas systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Fabricate and repair components using welding equipment and a plasma table.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and identify long-term solutions.
  • Coordinate the ordering of parts and maintain repair records.
  • Maintain forklifts, loaders, and other support equipment as needed.
  • Operate specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, welders, forklifts, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
  • Represent the City of Casper by responding to the public and maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience performing mechanical maintenance, service, and repair.
  • Extensive experience diagnosing and repairing industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Strong welding and metal fabrication skills.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage maintenance priorities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and preventative maintenance.
  • Possession of a valid Wyoming Class B Commercial driver’s license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a trade certification for baler services is preferred.
  • American Welding Inspector (AWS) certification preferred.

Additional Information

  • Regular schedule Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
  • Occasional early morning shifts from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. may be required.
  • Selected candidate will begin employment on January 11, 2027.
