Overview

The Combination Welder will weld, fabricate, and assist pipe fitters in the installation of various types of industrial pipe into the project's piping systems, requiring a strong background in welding and the ability to work with multiple materials.

Responsibilities

  • Weld metal materials to piping systems equipment using appropriate welding procedures.
  • Select equipment and plan layouts, assembly, and welding.
  • Layout, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components together.
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure them in position for welding.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using various welding techniques.
  • Assist pipe fitters in pipe installation, preparation, and fabrication.

Requirements

  • Must have 4+ years of welding experience.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a weld test.
  • Must have the ability to weld in 2g, 4g, and 6g conditions.
  • Must be able to Stick and Tig weld on Pipe.
  • Must have experience welding multiple types of pipes including carbon steel, stainless, and chrome.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • TWIC required.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and other engineering drawings.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of various metals' characteristics and qualities.

Additional Information

  • Will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
  • Will work in weathering conditions including heat while wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.
