Overview

The Pipe Combo Days (Welder/Fitter) position in Columbus, TX involves completing routine welding and fitting assignments under moderate supervision. The role requires proficiency in various welding processes and the ability to read and understand technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Complete routine welding and fitting assignments within defined processes.
• Use metal core mig, fluxcore, subarc, tig or stick welding processes.
• Read and understand P & ID drawings and package layout drawings.
• Weld brackets and braces, and use grinders.
• Position pieces for welding into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments.
• Perform position welds on code materials.
• Operate basic cutting equipment and proficiently use flame and plasma cutting torches.
• Layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.
• Inspect complete welds for structural soundness.
• Safely operate various machinery and tools including iron worker and overhead cranes.
• Assemble components and fabricate equipment as needed.

Requirements

• Must pass a 6G weld test for vessel or pipe.
• Must pass a written fitters exam.
• High school diploma or equivalent or combination of education and experience.
• Five years of related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe and vessel material.
