Overview

The High School Automotive/Welding Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering a rigorous, industry-aligned curriculum that prepares students for careers in the automotive service and repair industry, as well as manufacturing, construction, fabrication, and related skilled trades. This position combines theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on shop experiences, ensuring student proficiency in various automotive and welding processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to NATEF/ASE Education Foundation standards for automotive service areas.
• Integrate current diagnostic technology into daily instruction.
• Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and skill levels.
• Establish and enforce rigorous shop safety standards in compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Manage shop equipment, tools, parts inventory, and consumable supplies.
• Assess student learning through written exams and practical skills demonstrations.
• Advise students on post-secondary pathways including apprenticeships and technical colleges.
• Build and sustain relationships with local industry partners for student internships and job placements.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current certifications.

Requirements

• Valid Professional Educator License with endorsement in Technology Education or Career and Technical Education.
• Endorsements in Automotive Mechanics/Technician and Welding.
• ASE certification in one or more automotive service areas or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional automotive service, repair, welding, or related industry experience.
• AWS Certified Welder or equivalent qualification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints and symbols.
• Demonstrated proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment and vehicle technology.
