Overview

Capitol Engineering is an established and expanding custom fabrication company delivering high quality engineered & fabricated steel products to various industries. They are currently seeking a Fitter/Welder II for their Phoenix fabrication shop, requiring an experienced individual with strong welding and fitting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform GMAW (MIG) and FCAW (Flux-Core) welding in all positions on a variety of custom products.
  • Handle assignments of increasing complexity with minimal supervision.
  • Weld on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and AR plate as assigned.
  • Perform structural and custom fit-up and assembly independently using layout tools.
  • Use measuring instruments to verify dimensional compliance before tacking.
  • Prepare weld joints using appropriate tooling and abrasives.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
  • Verify joint cleanliness and WPS parameters before welding.
  • Perform self-inspection of completed welds against drawing requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to less-experienced shop staff.
  • Operate welding equipment and perform pre-use checks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work station.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of production welding and/or fabrication experience.
  • Active welder performance qualifications in all positions using GMAW and FCAW.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform structural fit-up and assembly independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and standard weld symbols.
  • Proficiency with angle grinders and hand tools for material preparation.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Additional Information

  • Standard Monday through Friday schedule during regular facility operating hours.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • This is an on-site position.
