Overview
Become a Welder with the Department of Transportation and help support safe and reliable travel across Montgomery County. This role will allow you to use your technical skills to repair and strengthen the equipment and structures that keep roads open and functioning.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, brazing, soldering, and coating on ferrous and non-ferrous materials for maintenance and repair.
- Preheat, clean, cut, and fit metals before welding and fabrication.
- Repair truck bodies, engine parts, trailers, and machinery used in roadway maintenance.
- Fix plow frames, blades, spreaders, and other winter maintenance equipment.
- Create new or replacement parts using oxy acetylene, arc, and similar welding equipment.
- Weld and cut specialized metals such as stainless steel and aluminum.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment.
- Completion of a three-year high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience.
- Completion of an approved welder apprentice program.
- A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society.
- An active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Information
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Selected candidates will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506 (before taxes).
