Overview

The Industrial Welder at Holtec is responsible for performing high-quality welds on carbon and stainless steel using FCAW and GTAW processes. The role requires adherence to safety standards and technical specifications to ensure the quality of critical components for the nuclear, energy, and heavy industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work safely in compliance with Holtec safety policies and PPE requirements
• Prepare, position, align, and fit materials per engineering drawings, work orders, and WPS
• Execute welds in required positions meeting visual and radiographic (X-ray) standards
• Use measurement and layout tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Layout, tack, heat-bend, clamp, grind, and bolt components for proper alignment
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent distortion or overheating
• Visually inspect welds to ensure compliance with AWS and Holtec quality standards
• Operate manual, semi-automatic, and automatic welding equipment (GTAW, FCAW, SAW, plasma arc)
• Safely handle materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work area

Requirements

• Must pass pre-employment weld tests administered in accordance with Holtec’s WPS requirements
• High School diploma or GED required
• 2–4 years of welding experience in heavy plate manufacturing or industrial environments
• Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, or travel based on production needs
• Ability to perform and pass FCAW weld tests in 2G and 3G positions
• Proficiency in FCAW and GTAW on carbon and stainless steel
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical documentation
• Working knowledge of AWS standards and industry best practices
• ASME Section IX and/or AWS D1.1/D1.6 certification preferred
• Experience in nuclear or high-spec industrial fabrication environments preferred
• Multi-process welding experience (SMAW, GMAW, SAW) preferred
• Familiarity with digital weld documentation and inspection tools preferred
