Overview
Technique is seeking an Aerospace Welding Technician for its Jackson, Michigan facility. The role involves fabricating, welding, and assembling precision components for aerospace and defense applications, adhering to strict quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and occasionally resistance or laser welding on various materials.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Set up and operate welding equipment according to approved procedures.
- Fabricate and assemble complex components to tight tolerances.
- Inspect welds visually and with measuring equipment to ensure quality.
- Complete required documentation for traceability and quality records.
- Maintain compliance with aerospace and defense quality standards and safety procedures.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve production issues.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of TIG and/or MIG welding experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
- Experience with stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic alloys such as titanium or Inconel.
- Familiarity with welding specifications (WPS/PQR) and quality documentation.
- Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welder preferred.
- AWS D17.1 (Aerospace Fusion Welding) experience or certification preferred.
- Military welding specification experience preferred.
