Overview
Austin Industrial is a leading provider of self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Specialist Combination Welder will join metal parts through various welding techniques as specified by layout, blueprints, or instructions.
Responsibilities
- Use welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces together.
- Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and adjust valves.
- Adjust flow of gas and air to reach the expected temperature, size, and color of flame.
- Preheat work pieces using a torch for welding or curving.
- Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces and adjust curves in metal work pieces.
- Check the weakness of work pieces and measure them to ensure specifications are met.
- Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to disassemble textures.
- Signal crane operators to lift large work pieces.
- Use thermal-cutting equipment to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
- Use hoists, cranes, and hand tools to place and protect work pieces.
- Choose welding locations based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.
- Instruct and apply flame or electrodes on work pieces to manipulate metal.
- Join pieces together and add metal to develop parts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirements.
- 4 years of Journeyman level experience.
- Weld Test certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- TWIC Card.
Additional Information
- Employees must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to various hazards.
