Overview

NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a Senior Fitter for their barge manufacturing plant in Caruthersville, MO. The role involves laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting together fabricated metal parts in preparation for welding, while also inspecting tack-welds for compliance with specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints or other specifications.
• Align parts using jack, turnbuckles, overhead cranes, pins, wedges and hammer.
• Measure to specifications.
• Identify parts for assembly in proper order.
• Cut and wash with torch (Oxy-Fuel).
• Tack weld pieces together.
• Remove high spots using grinders.
• Inspect and ensure that completed work conforms to specifications by the company and government standards.
• May perform repairs for testing if required.
• May serve as a problem-solving resource to others.
• Complete all required records.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of structural fitter experience.
• Ability to work with a tape measure and determine center point.
• Able to perform basic math calculations using fractions; carpenter's math.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints.
• All fitters have to pass a tackers test; six-part practical test using an oxy-fuel cutting torch.
• May require working above ground.
• Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights.
• May require working in narrow or confined workspaces for extended periods of time.
• May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time.
