Overview

Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) is a leader in metal laminating and advanced material solutions, seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their Elk Grove facility. The role involves maintaining, servicing, and repairing machinery and support equipment in a collaborative and safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Study and interpret blueprints and manuals to install and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Correct defective mechanical devices by disassembling and installing new parts.
  • Use welding equipment to make repairs on various metals.
  • Install and maintain air, water, and gas lines, including plumbing.
  • Repair and maintain lift trucks and pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic AC and DC motor control systems.
  • Obtain work assignments and instructions from supervisors.
  • May serve as a Roll Grinder.
  • Maintain housekeeping in shop areas and work sites.
  • Participate in quality improvement processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School graduate or equivalent; additional technical education and Certified Journeyman preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Maintenance Mechanic experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shifts.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Proficient in operating machine shop tools.
  • Skilled in brazing, cutting, and all position acetylene and arc welding.
  • Capable of routing black pipe and hydraulic tubing.
  • Skilled in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems.
  • Industrial Electrical experience highly preferred.
