Overview

Gropen Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Fabricator in Charlottesville, VA, who will be responsible for crafting custom signage and exhibits. The ideal candidate will possess strong fabrication skills and a problem-solving mindset to translate designs into high-quality finished products.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate custom signage, displays, exhibits, and architectural elements using various materials.
• Interpret shop drawings, renderings, and production files to create physical products.
• Consider fabrication methods, sequencing, structural integrity, and installation requirements during the build process.
• Weld, cut, grind, assemble, finish, and refine components with attention to detail.
• Collaborate with designers and project teams to address fabrication challenges.
• Identify potential production or installation issues before they arise.
• Operate fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Help maintain quality standards across projects from concept to final assembly.
• Support installations and field adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

Requirements

• Experience in metal fabrication, custom fabrication, signage, scenic, exhibit, millwork, or related trades.
• Ability to read shop drawings and understand physical builds.
• Strong spatial awareness and mechanical intuition.
• Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability.
• Pride in craftsmanship and ownership of work.
